Freedom.
Such a simple word, though it means so much. My freedom came the day I scrawled my signature across those blue papers. It also came on other multiple occasions over the last 3 weeks. One particular memorable one was running through the fans, leaping up and rolling Rage up for the win.
That was true Freedom.
How I had triumphed over two of the men trying to oppress me. Hacker had been lucky that Security had gotten there when they had and for a split second, I was that girl again. The woman from my past that took no shit. I knew it wasn’t the end though. Oh no, Rage would come after me and Drake again and again until we’d bent to his will. The thing was, whether or not we would or not. I knew Rage’s direction at Drake was because of me. Big deal. I wasn’t worried about him taking care of himself against Rage. He’d faced bigger and badder. H4ck3r was the one that I was keeping my signals located for and lord help that man if he followed us today.
First off, it wasn’t really pretty seeing me gripping the armrest in one hand and nearly breaking Drake’s fingers in the other. He’s laughing though. Laughing because Supergirl is finally afraid of something. Flying. Ironic.
I’m praying. Praying we get off the ground safely and get back on it just the same way. Flying was never something I got used to do and I did it so often because I wanted to see my family. A family I was bringing my boyfriend home to…..I hoped they liked him a whole lot better than they’d liked Ryan when I first brought him home.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I peaked one eye open and Drake’s waiving a hand at me.
“It’s okay; we’re off the ground now.” He’s mocking me.
“I’m sorry Mr. Brave.My.homeland.isn’t.a.whole.day.on.a.plane.that.I.have.soooooo.much.time.to.get.used.
to.it.” I know I was sounding completely childish. I still wasn’t feeling completely myself after my confrontation with Justin. Asshole.
“How old did you say you were? How long have you been in this business?”
I growled and hit him. “Shut up.”
“Why are you so afraid of planes anyway?”
I stay still for a few minutes. Deciding whether or not to tell him why I was petrified of planes. Was it too soon to pull out the parent card? Even if it wasn’t really a full parent card?
“I’ll tell you what….I promise that before we come back I will take you to meet my mom….it will explain why….”
I can’t read the expression on Drake’s face. I know he doesn’t like cryptic messages but it will be easier to explain when we see her.
“Lexi, if you don’t want to I’m not pushing for anything. You tell me what you want…that’s the deal remember?”
“Right….well there are some things that I do kind of owe you from my past….probably better I tell you them before Ryan decides he’ll use it against me….”
“Seriously babe, I doubt very much that anything you did will compare to the things I did in AWA.”
“Oh….no probably not….but you remember that match I told you about….my last one….”
“Where you got beaten to a bloody pulp?”
I nodded. “Yeah, see, I wasn’t the girl I was now….”
“We all change….”
I cut him off. “Well this isn’t going to so much be a horrible thing or anything but it’s embarrassing to me…..”
“If you want to tell me then just tell me, if not lets just drop it.”
I sigh. Here goes nothing. “I was a bully.”
He smirks first and then the smile becomes bigger until he’s full out chuckling. A few other passengers are starting to look over at us.
“Drake….” My brows furrow. “It’s not funny…”
“You…were a bully….as in a heel? Really? I have a hard time believing that one….”
“Believe whatever you want Mr. Big shot but it’s true.”
“That’s what you had to tell me that was some big bad secret…..”
“Don’t mock me Drake….” He really was being arrogant today and unnecessarily so. Why was it so hard to believe that I had been a bitch?
“So you’re embarrassed that you picked on people for a living? Join the club honey.”
“Oh blow it out your ass.” I got up and stormed off to the bathroom. Was this really our first fight? Over him thinking that my past was funny? Well maybe he didn’t think I was funny, he thought that I making a big deal of it was funny. I sat down on the steel toilet and sulked. Yes, me, Lexi Stevens, almost 30 years old sulked in an airplane bathroom. After a few minutes there was a knock on the door.
“It’s taken.”
“I know by a very lovely butt. Would you open the door and talk to me?” Drake on the other side.
“Is that your way of apologising Drake Hunter because it’s pretty piss poor.”
I hear him sigh.
“Come on…..”
I open it and I’m about to give him a piece of my mind when he pushes me back into and locks the door.
My mouth drops open. He gives me that Cheshire-cat smile.
“Don’t even think about it….”
“What…..” He’s closing the distance between us, which isn’t very much. “No one will even know….”
Again, I go to protest and I’m suddenly lip locked and unable to stop.

I had to keep hitting him as we got off the plane. Like I said, No’s into Yes’s. This was going to be very dangerous for him to know and I was starting to get the feeling that he already did. Damn.
It wasn’t very hard to miss my sister. She looked almost the same as me, only with Dark hair. She did have different shaped eyes and shorter legs….other than that there was no mistaking that me and her were sisters. I have no idea how I happened. My whole family is dark and I ended up with dirty blonde. I think Drake was amazed too when he saw her walking toward us with a little boy beside her.
It hadn’t been very long since I’d seen Matty. Even though I saw him 3 weeks ago it felt like it had been months. As soon as his identical Hazel eyes looked up at mine they lit up. He broke free of Chrissy’s hand and took off for me and I did the same. Feeling him in my arms was the most wonderful feeling every time.
“Auntie Lexi missed you….” He said and his little hands were tight around my neck.
“I missed you too baby boy.” I looked up at Chrissy and then behind me. There was something new in Drake’s eyes. It might not have been there if he hadn’t of known that this little boy was mine. This was the moment I had been nervous about since the second my fingers had left the keyboard to ask him to come. I walked over.
“Honey, this is Auntie’s Friend Drake. Can you say hi?” The little boy peaked out from behind my blonde curls to smile shyly and wave. Drake waved back and my heart stopped beating. He liked my kid. And it wasn’t one of those fake smiles that boyfriends give the kids, this was a genuine reaction.
“Hi sport.” He said.
Matty looked up confused. “Where’s Uncle Ryan?”
A lump formed in my throat. As much as I hated Rage, the way he acted and the way he treated me, this was still his son.
“Honey we’ll talk about that later.” Chrissy came to take him from my arms. I looked down and noticed that her baby bump was more significant and I smiled and without thinking my hand went to it. Chrissy and I shared a look before hugging each other, with Matty squished between us.
“Help….” The little boy said. “Girls….”
Drake started to laugh and rescued the boy from our arms.
“Okay enough of that.” Chrissy said pulling back, running the back of her hand along her cheeks to remove evidence of sentiment. “I’m sure you guys are hungry.”
“Starved…” Drake and I said at the same time and I giggled. The little boy squirmed in Drake’s arms and Chrissy took him back.
“I guess it’s obvious that I’m Christabel, but please…call me Chris or Chrissy… I don’t know what my parents were thinking when they picked our names.”
“I dunno, I think your names suit both of you.” Drake said.
“Ever the charmer.” I gave him a smile and we started toward the doors to exit the airport. “Where’s Terry?”
Chrissy rolls her eyes. “Working…what else. Don’t worry Drake; it won’t be a total hen house. Terry will have his brother over tomorrow and I’m sure they will flood you with questions. Big fans. They never leave Lexi alone.”
“I’m sure it’s not because of her profession…is this brother single?” Drake inquired.
“Don’t start getting jealous now….” I quipped.
He raised an eyebrow at me as if to ask if I was kidding. Okay, Touché.
“He is, but don’t worry, He knows that Lexi doesn’t like him that way. You won’t have any issues, promise.”
Once we were at Chrissy’s car, Drake helped load our suitcases into the car and I buckled Matty into his seat. I kissed him on his little forehead and looked up to see that Drake had been watching me. He smiled. Now I was worried. What was going on in that head of his?
Before he walks toward the front passenger side door I stop him. “Are you okay?” I ask.
“I’m fine.”
“It will be a nice time away to not think about anything or anybody. I know it’s only 2 days but it’s…..” He puts a finger to my lips.
“Stop worrying. Nothing is going to happen.” I wondered if he really believed that or if in the back of his mind he was always alert, waiting for another attack. He smiled at me and then kissed me softly and got in the car. I did the same with the back.

After dinner, Drake was pulled into the dungeon by Terry and Chrissy and I cleaned up supper and Matty.
“What do the hell do you think your doing?” Chrissy says out of the blue. I stop, look at the table and then back to her. She leaning against the stove, a dishrag in her hands and she’s giving me the ‘big sister’ look.
“I’m sorry Chris; you’ll have to be more specific….”
“With him…what are you doing?”
“Uh…dating….” I said not exactly understanding what the issue is.
“Oh Justin filled me in and I’ve been just waiting to get you alone.”
“Justin….” I roll my eyes. “Chris, Justin is insanely jealous. You know that he’s in NYC right now because he thinks he needs to protect me…”
Chrissy ignores what I say and continues, “Apparently Drake has a sorted past like Ryan. You really wanna go messing around in that bullshit again?”
“Look, spare me the speech Chris. He’s not Ryan.”
“Oh? Can you be sure about that? Can you be sure that he’s not going to become some super psycho that punches walls and throws things?”
“That was an accident…” I shout out.
“What was an accident?” Drake asked. Terry and he had come up from the basement. Terry looks confused, Drake just looks angry. “What did he do Lexi?” Somehow he knew exactly who the topic of conversation was.
“It was an accident. It’s forgotten.” I put my arms up. “Welcome home Lexi.” I storm off.
As I’m going up the stairs, I know that Chrissy is going to tell him. She’s got a big mouth and she doesn’t like Rage. She doesn’t particularly like Drake right now either because of whatever garbage Justin has been talking but I stop at the top of the stairs, if only for a minute….
“When she was pregnant, he got angry, threw some piece of furniture or something…I don’t know exactly but it hit Lexi. It’s what made her decision to hide the pregnancy…actually she was going to abort but I convinced her not to. She faked the miscarriage that night and Rage never forgave her or himself…..”
