The scene started with me walking around New York as I was looking for my trainer as he actually in New York, he called me; we agree to meet at Times Square. I almost got lost before my trainer taps me in the back, and we do our usual greeting before heading to the gym. Along the way, we got ourselves a hotdog and to be honest it’s the best hot dog that I ever had, it’s even better than the one I eat back in Tampa. Once we reach the gym, I went to the locker room to change to my training clothes. As I was putting up my training pants, it reminding myself about the first time I was training myself as a wrestler, it put me back to my first trip here in America, where I was called by Greg Jackson to his training facility at Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was the first time that I got a chauffeur to drive me to the camp facility and my hotel for the whole time I’m there. When I reached to the camp of Greg Jackson is, I was surprised that he was at the gates waiting for me. When I got out of the car, he shakes my hands and started to talk.
Greg Jackson: “Taufik, let me be the first to welcome you to Greg Jackson MMA Camp, and right now I want you to put on your training gear and meet me at the gym in eight minute.”
As Greg Jackson turns his back walk away, I was confused as it was my first time here, and I was told to put on my training gear and be at the Gym within eight minutes, and the worst part of it is that I just arrive at the camp. Greg then turns back again as he forgot to tell me another information.
Greg Jackson: “I almost forgot; it started two minutes ago.”
I eyes then widens up as I take my luggage from the car and sprint myself to the locker room as I know I got less time to get myself ready. After I put up my gear, I heard Greg Jackson shouting a countdown from ten as I ran as fast as I can before the countdown ended, and I managed to get there on time before he counts to zero. I was heavily panting as Greg Jackson continues to speak.
Greg Jackson: “You’re on time, but it’s not good enough. Drop down and give me twenty push up.”
My face went to disbelief after what I heard, but I have no say about it as I drop it down. Greg Jackson the pace around me as he speaks.
Greg Jackson: “Welcome to my camp, this is where great people from the world of MMA come and train with the best trainer whom this camp can ever offer. Usually, other trainers will train them, but I took the liberty to train you myself as I can see something special in you.”
He told me to get up as he continues to speak.
Greg Jackson: “I see a lot good things happening for you. I know you are not a mix martial artist; you're a wrestler. I’m going to make you durable, not wrestling tough, MMA tough even if it’s going to kill me. I will do my best to make you the toughest wrestler in any company you’re in. Now I’m going to teach you submission moves.”
As Greg Jackson about to start my first training, I then snap out of it as I was in the present time as I get change. Once I’m done changing, I went to where Greg Jackson is and tell him that I’m ready. He then starts to talk to me.
Greg Jackson: “Never been proud of you Taufik, you have wrestled all around the world, and you are now contracted with NYCCW, and you did very well in your debut match even though the whole world didn't see it. Let’s freshen up your techniques.”
Taufik: “Well I really need that because I need to prepare myself for this week match as I’m facing Justin Fisher in a Submission match.”
Greg Jackson then gives out a smile upon his face as he calls out another guy to come out as he continues to speak.
Greg Jackson: “Taufik, I would like you to meet a person who’s going to be your training buddy, Nick Mitchell.”
Nick Mitchell then extends the hands as acknowledgement of friendship as I extend my hand as well as Greg Jackson continues to speak.
Greg Jackson: “Great now let’s get to training. Taufik, right now it’s not all about you making your opponent submit. Since the match, you’re having is a submission match, I want to train you more of reversing and countering the moves. Especially when you’re facing a debutant, it’s going to be dangerous as he is going to do everything he can to make you tap, even to the extend if he has to break your bones.”
I nodded my head in agreement as he continues to speak.
Greg Jackson: “As soon as were done drilling you with counter and reversals, we're going to teach you how to do a submission maneuver by using less energy but more aggressiveness so it; you will not be easily tired. Are You Ready? Let’s go.”
Nick and I then proceeds doing a couple of reversals and counter that I know and learn before as Greg nodded his head.
Greg Jackson: “I see that you polished up your techniques, and I am proud of that. Right now, I want to teach you other's ways of countering specific hold.”
He afterwards shows me and I subsequently follow how he does it. After hours of practicing the new techniques, Nick left the gym as the session is over. After washing up, both Greg and I went to a nearby diner and have a sit down and chat session. As we ordered our food and while waiting, we started to talk.
Greg Jackson: “I see you really improved a lot since the last time we met. I’ve seen the PPV on replay, and I don't know about your decision about interfering Rage/Chris Cable match. I guess you know what’s lies ahead of you about your actions, but what’s made you do that?”
The drink has arrived as Greg has a coffee while I have my usual Pepsi. I take a sip of it before answering his question.
Taufik: “All I can say right now is that Rage underestimates me, and I show him who's boss and you see it yourself. It was a two on one assault, and I come down there and even the odds.”
Greg nodded his head in agreement as he continues to talk.
Greg Jackson: “Your opponent this week, the first time I saw him, he tried to make a name for himself, but it got backfired as he got himself knock out silly. I have to tell you, and it’s a no brainer that this match is already in your favor as your studies a lot of submission styles that even Justin himself couldn’t name it.”
Taufik: “I don't know what to say Greg, Justin Fisher got himself knock silly and as your teaching that if I had known all these years and one thing that I keep reminding myself that never underestimate your opponent. ”
Greg gives out a laugh as an indication that I’ve remembered the words that he says as I continue to speak.
Taufik: “I’m planning to keep my momentum going, and Justin thinks that my debut match was deadweight, and it’s an easy win? He got another thing coming for him. Where’s our food I’m hungry already.”
Both Greg and Taufik laugh out of no reason as their food have arrived, they start to eat as the scene fades to black.
