Big Jack Grizzly stands in the middle of the ring, holding up his shiny gold championship title. The crowd are going wild all chanting his name. “GRIZZLY RULES ‘CLAP CLAP CLAP’ GRIZZLY RULES”
Ray Roberts: well Sam how did it feel to call your first match with one of the great power houses in sports entertainment today. He’s unbeaten in 3 years for that championship. The fans love him and he has the upmost respect for them too.
Sam Andrews: Ray that was amazing. Did you see that moonsault, he’s six foot six, four hundred pounds for god’s sake how is that humanly possible. His opponent tonight, his former tag team partner Mad Mike Ravenhall pushed the behemoth from Bear River all the way. The crimson mask on the grizzly’s face shows he was in a war but he prevailed as always. Finishing his man off with that sickening piledriver he calls the Bear River plunge. He’s asking the ring crew for a microphone Ray, I think we’re gonna hear from the beast himself.
Grizzly: I just wanna say a few words, I’m absolutely exhausted, and I wanna thank Mike Ravenhall for one hell of a match, even though he tried taking may head off with that steel chair about a hundred times. The blood and sweat just goes to show he’s a hell of a performer; you guys should commend him for one hell of a fight…and kicking out of that moonsault! What the hell was I thinking going up there in the first place and how the hell did he survive, he’s one tough S.O.B
Big Jack stands there applauding the crowd and his opponent then wipes the blood and sweat from his eyes, before attempting to speak again through the sheer noise of the five thousand packed arena.
Ray: what a sportsman people, he’s a real champion.
Grizzly: I love you guys, I love this company you all know that. I’ve spent the whole of my professional career here since I was just a boy but ….I just need to tell you IM LEAVING!
The whole crowd just halts to a silence and the look of amazement appears on the faces of the masses.
Grizzly: it was a hard decision and I’m probably gonna get fined and allsorts from management because they don’t even know yet. I made my final decision as the ref’s hand came down for the three count. What made my mind up is that even though I got pushed to my limit tonight and the fact that I’m not getting any younger, it’s because I want a new challenge. I’ve been here for nearly twenty years, since I was just eighteen years of age. It’s you guys who moulded me into the champion I am today. If it wasn’t for you guys I wouldn’t have held numerous tag titles with the man I beat tonight and wouldn’t have held this heavyweight championship for three long years. I owe my whole life and career to you…. THANK YOU!!
Sam: I can’t believe what I’m hearing!
Grizzly: I know I’m not supposed to speak about another federation on national TV but I want you guys to keep following me and I know you all wanna know where my fat ass is heading, I’m headed to a place I’m sure you’ve all hear of. It’s quickly becoming the biggest wrestling company. Oops that’s another few bucks that I just got fined because I used the term wrestling… but I don’t give a shit! Its wrestling not sports entertainment and we’re wrestlers for god sake…rant over for now back to the point. It’s quickly becoming the biggest WRESTLING COMPANY in the world. It has the resources, the fan base and most of all, no disrespect to the guys in the back but…with the money they have they are slowly recruiting the best wrestlers in the world. It’s a company in New York called New York City championship wrestling, or the NYCCW for short. The only reason I’m leaving is for the challenge no other reason, I hope you guys understand.
Grizzly puts down the microphone and lies the championship belt down in the centre of the squared circle. Gets down on his knees and applauds the crowd. The five thousand people all start clapping. There are a few different chants flowing around the arena, “YOU’RE OUR CHAMPION…BIG JACK GRIZZLY…PLEASE DON’T LEAVE US” among a few.
Ray: I really can’t fathom what’s just happened here Sam. I’m gonna get in trouble for saying this too but Some questioned why someone so highly rated in our business didn’t make the jump to a bigger company sooner and at thirty eight years of age I’m not quite sure if it’s the right thing for the big man to do. Yes he’s been unbeatable here but by going to the NYCCW he’s going up a few levels in competition. Younger, hungrier and just a better calibre of wrestler.
Sam: you may be right Ray and I know you’ve been here since the start and followed the bear’s career from the start, but I’d have to disagree with what you’ve said. I know my stuff and I’m a geek when it comes to wrestling knowledge. Big jack Grizzly is the fittest big man I’ve ever seen, he’s quick, agile and powerful, a deadly combination in our sport. Most of all though ray he’s done the unthinkable in his long career, he’s stayed injury free. Never has he been side-lined with a serious injury or missed hardly any ring time.
Ray: I hope your right Sam because if this goes right for Jack then he could well and truly become a legend of our sport. If you’re a NYCCW fan and your just hearing this news and you don’t know much about Big Jack Grizzly other than this. Don’t let his polite manner fool you; his moniker and his name aren’t just for show. He well and truly is a man bear; he is the one and only BEHEMOTH OF BEAR RIVER… BIG JACK GRIZZLY and he’s gonna be missed.
As Grizzly starts to exit the ring the whole locker room empties and the wrestlers from the back all surround the ring. Grizzly backs into the centre of the squared circle and puts up his fists. He’s ready to fight but all the superstars start to clap and applaud the big man from Bear River thus humbling the bear and he doesn’t know what to do. Up onto the apron climbs his former tag team partner and the man he defended the title against tonight. Mad mike enters the ring hold out his hand to Jack and pulls the big man in for a hug and whispers in his ear then holds his hand high into the air. The crowd are going nuts the sound is deafening. Grizzly picks up the title belt and drapes it on to the shoulder of Ravenhall and raises his hand into the air. The big bear then climbs out of the ring and heads to the back while everybody in the building clap and chants his name.
Ray: I’m devastated Sam it’s the end of an era!
Later that evening as Big Jack is leaving the building he receives a phone call.
Caller: hey big guy, it’s all over the internet I see you made the right decision. I hope you stuck to our story.
Grizzly: of course I did, I told everyone the truth. You’ve known me long enough to know that I would.
Caller: everything’s in place for you over in New York, board of directors look over your tapes, all that’s missing is the signature of biggest badass I’ve ever known and the sky’s the limit. You’re gonna be the man over here Jack you big tough bastard. Nobody’s gonna fuck with us let me tell you.
Grizzly: I hope they all follow their wrestling because if they’ve never heard of me the soon will. I just left one championship in the ring so I’m coming for a new shinier one.
Caller: you know the plan, once everything is in place you can take anything you want. Come on who’s gonna stop us!!
Grizzly: Exactly!! Right I’m going for some steak and some beer; I’ll be in New York Wednesday. I hope my accommodation is sorted,
Caller: yes don’t fret; keys are here waiting for you. I’ve even got a little surprise for you too.
Grizzly hangs up the phone and mutters under his breath;
“I FUCKING HATE SUPRISES”
