In Order for my plan to work, I had to get her to trust me again. It wouldn’t be easy but it wasn’t exactly hard either. Lexi had a big heart and I knew how to twist things is such the right way to get her to open it up and let me back in.
I’d lie, I’d make deals, I’d even promise to be nice to Hunter…at least until we finished our plans. When we were done, people will say “Hacker who?”
As far as I’m concerned, Turner was stupid for parading around in a dorky outfit for 6 months. He was the freakin’ GM. He could have tortured Hunter without all the theatrics and gotten a way better reaction….but well there was a reason I wasn’t a GM right?
I was interested to know what his excuse was….especially for kidnapping and hurting Lexi. That was something I couldn’t overlook. He even went as far to say that he cared about her….what?! Pretty funny behaviour for someone who cares….I know, I know…pot and kettle.
My money was on Rage this weekend. Not cuz I particularly liked him better than Hunter, actually if I had to pick one, I’d rather Lexi was with Hunter. He’d never tried to throw anything at her, or hit her. In fact the most he’d ever done was call her stupid for running out in the middle of the night to meet the crazy deranged boss we had. No I thought Rage was bigger, more skilled and frankly, Drake hadn’t defended that title since he won it. He’d been so focused on his fight with Hacker but now….we’d see what kind of man he really was in that ring. He couldn’t use the man in a mask as an excuse for being shitty.
I had to be patient…my time would come to make them pay but for now, I had to face double retard Chris Cable. I mean, what kind of a nickname is that…compared to me being called a ‘hidden gem’ I mean…come on. C Double? Really?
And no one could ever look past my last name either, which was why I didn’t change it or drop it. Everyone got so hung up on the ‘fish’ part that they could never come up with any better trash talk. And even when I tell them all that it doesn’t bother me, they still continue to go on about it….really? Whatever. You don’t think I’ve been teased about it my entire life? Booo!
It had been very easy to give Cable a cruise control. I hadn’t been planning on Rage still having some stamina. Too bad he didn’t have that in his marriage to Lexi…maybe it would have made her enjoy their time together… Mr. 2 minutes. I chuckled to myself. I’d give Cable another one…maybe 2 of them this weekend. If he thinks he’s got an easy win, he’s just as crazy as bootstrap.
I get a text message from Jay Wyatt. Seems he’s recovered from Rage’s assault and wants to know if I would be willing to give him his first interview back. Ummm of course. Do I look retarded; however I had other plans this morning. I had a beautiful blonde meeting me for coffee. So I asked him to meet me later this afternoon.
~*~
I couldn’t help but stare at Lexi’s ass as she left. Swinging her hips and she didn’t even know she did that. She turned at the door to smile at me and wave. I waved back. Once she was gone, I stood, put the empty mug on the counter and left the bistro. I really didn’t know why Lexi came here all the time like she claimed….the coffee was horrible.
Before I met Wyatt, I had an appointment to look at an apartment. Ironically in the same building that Lexi was in. Bonus. But I had purposely set out to find something there. Any reason to be close to her. I knew that she was hardly there but well….
The land lady was nice, even remembered me helping Lexi and Metallica move in a couple months ago. The only apartment available was a 1 bedroom. Which was fine by me. I didn’t need a roomie nor did I want one. And with this extra cash coming through I could afford to be more than comfortable. I signed the six month lease and a key was dropped into my hand. It was also Ironic that it was the apartment directly below Lexi’s….
I met Wyatt in Central Park an hour later. I don’t know why…it was his idea. He was writing things down again instead of using a camera. He really was old school. I noticed he’d gone to my guy and looked a lot better in a blazer and jeans. He’d even gotten his hair cut and gone were the bleached tips.
“So I heard that you had a date with the new all-action champ?” He said, his pen posed and ready to write down my answer.
“It wasn’t a date. Lexi is with Drake and I don’t intend to cause them any more trouble. I want her to be happy.”
“Is that the truth?”
“Absolutely.” I smiled.
“So are you doing a face turn?”
“What? No. I’m allowed to have real feelings, especially for a girl that I’ve known since I was a kid. Next question.”
“How do you feel about Electra winning the belt back?”
“Well deserved. As far as I’m concerned that Slut they call a queen shouldn’t even have had a chance to win it at all. However, these questions have absolutely nothing to do with my match…”
“Just one more and then we’ll talk about your match.” He says and I sigh. Whatever. It was still better then London.
“Go ahead…” I roll my eyes.
“Your thoughts on Will Turner being Hacker?”
“You know what; I’m mixed on the whole thing. At first I was like okay cool, I still don’t like Hunter, and it had nothing to do with me so whatever right, but then I remember all the things that guy put Lexi through and it pisses me off. Regardless he’s still the boss around here and I want to keep my job so from this point forward I’ll keep my mouth shut.”
Wyatt jotted down his notes before looking back at me.
“Do you want to enlighten us on your actions at Caged Aggression?”
“Uh, really? Wyatt? You want me to explain my motives? Here are the only things you need to know. Cameron Rivers is a Hack, a failed MMA that couldn’t cut it in the octagon so he came over here to look like an even bigger fool, which I proved on Saturday. Cable, I went to offer that guy luck in his match and instead he elbows me for no reason and then calls me a Kid? Excuse me? But I’m pretty sure I have some years on that boy….years and experience. So, I did what any person would do in my place…I went out there and cost him the win. Unfortunately, I underestimated Rage. The wrong thing to do, I should have just left and been happy with my little revenge because lets face it, a Cruise Control hurts a helluva lot worse than some shitty Elbow move… my ego got in the way. But it’s no matter. There will be a time and a place where I will make sure that Rage feels my anger…just not right now.”
“It sounds like you have confidence for your upcoming match against Cable this Saturday at Bright Lights.”
“You bet your sorry ass I do. I’m always confident. People seem to always underestimate me because I’ve never been in this kind of promotion but what they don’t know is that I’ve been around. I know things that would scare the pants off some of these so called ‘baddies’. I also have many, many friends in high places. Cable has nothing on me. He got a lucky shot, that’s it. He won’t be so lucky this weekend. He doesn’t have to worry about me attacking his family though, I’m not as sadistic as Rage, if he had let me finish he would have known that I was going to say that if he were facing me, his whole family would be scared for their loved one. Now see…if he hadn’t acted like an immature teenager, he would have known that. That’s all he is…a scared little boy that can’t get a win.”
“Do you have a strategy for Saturday?”
“Yeah, kick the shit out of his sorry excuse of a gimmick and then win the match. Duh. I’m not going to stand here with you and explain my reasons. That’s my business.”
“And what about this mysterious man you’ve been seen talking too?”
“What mysterious man? There is no man. I don’t know what you’re talking about. You know how many friends I have in NYC? You know how many friends I have across the country? It is possible you know to actually bump into a friend and start talking without me having some master plan. God Wyatt, keep your conspiracy theories for Hacker.”
“But many people have said that it’s the same man you keep ‘bumping’ into….”
“Wyatt, really?” I sigh and stop walking with him. “There is no plan. I’m just trying to fight my way to the top of the pile, like everyone else. The only ‘plan’ I have is to beat the losers and maybe eventually earn the right to get gold around my waist. That’s my ‘master’ plan.”
“Thanks Justin. You always give a great interview.”
“Well I am the hidden Gem of NYCCW.”
“I heard they called you that….nice…”
“I thought so. The fans like me Wyatt, that’s why I’m going to rise to the top while all the losers filter down with the debris. Guys like Taufik and Cable are nothing more then fillers. Just stepping stones for me to continue to climb higher.”
I shake his hand and start to walk away before he yells after me. I stop and look around.
“Hey, I have these tickets…to a Yankee game….I was wondering….”
I laugh. “Wyatt are you inviting me on a date?” I raise an eyebrow.
“No…no…I’m definitely straight I just thought you know….do you like baseball?”
“Sure I do…but I’m wondering what your angle is….you could invite a girl you know…”
“Whatever, forget I asked.”
I shrugged and walked away. Poor guy. He had no friends, no girl….what a lonely existence. Oh well, not my problem.
I’d lie, I’d make deals, I’d even promise to be nice to Hunter…at least until we finished our plans. When we were done, people will say “Hacker who?”
